On the Saturday of the BC Day long weekend, the Maple Ridge Museum partners with other community organizations to put on a one-day celebration of Maple Ridge and its history. Heritage Day is an event full of history, food and fun. There will be a Pioneer Parade, a Farmer's Market, great food, and traditional midway games for the young and young at heart.
The Museum sets up a timeline of Maple Ridge History and other historical displays drawn from the extensive photo collection in our archives. There is also a selection of Museum merchandise available for sale.
The local community groups run children's programs and a parade with vintage cars. On the bandstand there is a series of free concerts and dance performances. There is also a variety of food for sale, the most popular of which is mini-donuts. Heritage Day is a great way to spend the long weekend with family; you can drop in for a few minutes or stay for the whole day.
It is hoped that as this event becomes more established as an annual feature that people will see it as an opportunity for re-union and that people who have left the community will choose that weekend to come back for a visit.
Please see our Events Calendar for specific dates and times each summer.
