On the fourth Thursday of the month, from September to June, the Historical Society meets to hear a speaker, have a social evening, or go on a field trip. See below for the schedule of events to June 2011.

|Katzie Archaeology on the Abernethy Connector|
|February 24||Archaeologists Amy Homan and Stephanie Huddlestan will present the interpretations of materials recovered from Katzie’s extensive excavation. The site known as “DhRp 52” dates between roughly 6000 and 3000 years ago and has produced a wealth of rare materials, particularly with good preservation of usually perishable remains.|
|AGM and Potluck Supper|
|March 24||Join us for a fine meal in good company followed by our AGM. Visitors are welcome with an admission of $2 and a savoury or sweet treat. Members are encouraged to phone Allison at 604-463-5311 to let us know what food item you plan to bring.|
|April 28||History of Maple Ridge Garden Club, and the goal of promoting “healthy gardening”.|
|May 26||Japanese Canadians: The Destruction of a Community in Democratic BC. David will explore the origins and outcomes of this painful episode in our history.|
|Field Trip – Kilby Historic Site|
|Saturday June 25 at 1PM||Caravan with us from the Maple Ridge Museum to Kilby for a behind the scenes look at the historic site. $5 per person. Please call 604-463-5311 for more details and to reserve a spot!|
