Burnett Fellowship Baptist
The original Maple Ridge Baptist Church stands on Dewdney Trunk Road just west of 5th Ave. where it was constructed in 1912, on the south side.
The original building was constructed largely through the efforts of Rev. D.G. McDonald, one of the pioneer Baptist ministers of this province. The first service was held on July 18th, 1937. The dedication took place on September 19, 1937 and the mortgage was paid off in January of 1938.
The building underwent several additions and renovations. The major structure was destroyed by fire on December 1, 1957. A new building was erected and the first service took place in March of 1959.
In July of 1987 the first steps to purchasing 4.4 acres of property at 20639 – 123rd Ave. took place. That same year, the two works of Burnett Memorial and Pitt Meadows Baptist amalgamated.
On December 28th, 1989, the facility on Laity Street was sold. Preparation of the new site began in February, Ground Breaking Ceremony took place in March, and the construction started in early April.
The doors to this new facility officially opened on September 9, 1990.
