St. Paul's Lutheran
In July 1950, St. Paul's Church Board negotiated with Maple Ridge Baptist Church for the purchase of their former church building. This church was located at Dewdney Trunk Road and Cemetery Road. Today, the building is a private residence but it still retains its distinctive appearance.
Plans for a new church building on the present site progressed under Pastor Emberg. The corner stone for the new St. Paul's Lutheran Church building was laid December 18th, 1960. On February 5th 1961, the people of St. Paul's marched from the old building on Dewdney Trunk Road to the new building at its current location of 12145 Laity Street.
In 1974, unused church property was sold to pay off the mortgage debt. In June of that year, a mortgage burning ceremony was held. Through the efforts of many volunteers in the congregation, construction of a Sunday School addition began in 1975. The new wing was completed in the spring of 1976 and dedicated on June 13, 1976. The Pastor's office, begun in 1977, was completed in 1978 and dedicated on the occasion of the Church's 30th Anniversary, February 15th, 1978. The Sunday School Wing was rededicated at the same time to the memory of Dr. Otto A. Olson.
